Book of the week

Jane and Michael Stern have THE best jobs in the world: they drive around the country and eat at local, independently-owned diners, restaurants, taco stands, rib shacks, etc., and then write about their experiences. They get PAID to do this. Roadfood is their national guide to the best food joints around the U.S. of A.; I think the voluime that hit our shelves today is the sixth edition of this beloved book. I have visited a few of the places they recommend in the SoCal area, like the Pantry, Philippe's, Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles, and the Wheel Inn, but there are quite a few more I feel the need to check out. If anyone is up for a culinary road trip, let me know -- we can split the fuel bill and I'll provide the antacid.
