John Grisham, jackhole

From the Telegraph: "Speaking about his new novel, Theodore Boone, to an audience of Telegraph readers the American author joked that he had changed direction to emulate the success of JK Rowling.

"For his latest work the 55-year-old, known for his courtroom thrillers, chose to focus on a 13-year-old aspiring lawyer rather than a legal professional, and the novel will be the start of his first ever series of books.

"He said: 'Theodore is really an effort to catch Harry Potter. Back in the 1990s I was routinely introduced as the bestselling author in the world. I tried to pretend like it was no big deal.

"'Then along came Harry Potter and suddenly I was number two. I've got to tell you, I really miss being number one. I'm going to catch Harry one way or another.'"

Just love hearing that it's all about sales, Mr. Grisham, not anything pansy like -- oh, say, loving to write, hoping to introduce younger readers to the exciting world of thrillers, and so on. Way to go, jackhole.

He's not only a jackhole but a pipe dreamer too. Good luck picking up where JK left off. Yeah, kids have always found the law SO compelling. Lame!

I've always enjoyed Grisham's work. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Will this 13-year-old aspiring lawyer be prosecuting Harry Potter? Harry has performed an unforgivable curse or two and that merits an automatic life-sentence in Azkaban. I'm just saying.
