My new flame

I'm not sure I believe in love at first sight, but I'm a true believer in love at first listen. I can fall deeply, passionately in love with a song the first time I hear it and never really get over it -- I may move on to a new favorite, but the old love will always have a special place in my heart. It's kinda like remaining friends with all of your exes.

My new flame is the album Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. I heard some snippets of it online and knew I had to buy it (yeah, I'm one of those old fogeys who still buy CDs). It may be a while before I actually hear the whole thing because I have a tendency to listen to a song that catches my ear and then hit the repeat button -- again and again and again. I sometimes have a song or two memorized because of repeat listens before I sample anything else on an album. Anyway, if "Killing the Blues," "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us," and "Please Read the Letter" are any indication of Raising Sand's overall quality, I'm about to embark on a deeply pleasing love affair.

I looked at the picture before I read your post and had no idea who the guy was in the picture. Robert Plant?!?!?! Oh my gosh! He look SO MUCH older than the last I saw of him. But the CD sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a listen!

Holy Shit! What's next, Jimmy Page and Neko Case? Actually...that would be awesome.
