Lately I've been thinking a lot about my family and our family stories. For no good reason other than that, here are three things I'm sure you'll enjoy learning about my relatives:
1) During the Great Depression, my paternal grandfather had a steady job . . . working in a bank. My maternal grandfather was an out-of-work steelworker who rode the rails everywhere, looking for a job. Rumor has it he had a second family in Mississippi.
2) My father was one of the first people to be certified in scuba diving in the U.S.A. He also had a pilot's license. I never knew him to scuba dive or fly a plane.
3) Both my brother and my sister married people named C.E. Miller.

I love hearing interesting family trivia! I think your grandfather with the possible second family grabs my interest the most. Fascinating! My paternal grandfather was a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, which I always thought was pretty cool. But, then he'd try to pull stories on us and we'd walk away wondering if they held any truth. I think one I can safely say was false was when he absolutely insisted that we were one eighth African American. He insisted on that one until the day he died.
That is so interesting! It's very strange that both your siblings married C.E. Millers. What an incredible coincidence!
Also to kb - I'm 1/16th African American and I am the whitest person I know :) It could be true.
